Before You Start:

– Pick the Right Hat

The BerleyPro ActionHat® FlexFrame is 8 mm thick, so the best hats to use are adjustable high crown hats that will help compensate for the extra thickness added once the frame is installed. If using a low profile or fitted hat, it is recommended to use a larger size than normal for the ideal look and feel. Before making holes, insert the frame into the hat and try it on to ensure a good fit.

– Test for Floatation

Since hat weights, materials and styles vary, we cannot guarantee that your DIY ActionHat will float. We recommend float testing your DIY ActionHat by installing the FlexFrame and your camera and placing in a bucket of freshwater. Since saltwater is more buoyant than fresh water, if your hat will float in fresh water, it will definitely float in saltwater. If additional flotation is needed, we recommend attaching a key float for extra flotation and security.
